Answers to the questions parents care about most. If yours isn't covered here, please WhatsApp us anytime.
Honestly, every child's pace is different. Generally: noticeable changes in 3 months (around 12 sessions); skill consolidation around 6 months; core goals reached by 1 year. Important caveat — OT therapy targets neurological adaptation, not immediate behavioural change. I conduct a progress review every 3 months so parents see concrete progress milestones.
I proactively coordinate with other professionals (speech therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, school SENCos) with the parent's written consent. Cross-discipline collaboration prevents duplicated assessments and contradictory interventions — especially important for SEN children with multi-disciplinary involvement. Updates are shared via case meetings or written summaries.
Yes — with the parent's written consent. I proactively reach out to the school SENCo / class teacher to share assessment findings, training priorities, and reasonable classroom adjustments. School visits (approx. 1.5 hours, additional fee — please ask via WhatsApp) are available to help teachers implement strategies in real situations. School communication is critical for SEN children's outcomes.
Many parents worry about this — especially for sensory-sensitive or anxious children. I use a play-embedded assessment approach where the child engages in play while I observe and evaluate. The first session prioritises rapport-building; no forced testing. If we need to split the assessment across two sessions, I'll accommodate. Parents are welcome to stay as the child's secure base.
No referral letter needed. OT assessments and training can be booked directly without a doctor's or school's referral. If you have existing medical reports, educational psychologist reports, or DH assessments, please share them before the appointment so I can prepare in advance.
Training can usually begin within one week after assessment. I first debrief the assessment findings (verbal explanation in-person or via video within 1–2 working days), confirm the training direction with you, then schedule the first session. Typical wait time is 1–2 weeks. Urgent cases (e.g. before school transition or admission applications) can be expedited.
Home-visit fees are included in the listed price for most of Hong Kong Island , Kowloon, NT East and West. Remote areas in northern NT or outlying islands may incur an additional travel supplement. Please share your address via WhatsApp and I'll confirm the exact fee in advance — no surprises on arrival.
Insurance reimbursement depends on your specific plan. I can provide detailed receipts for submission to your insurer, but coverage of allied health / occupational therapy services varies between policies. I recommend checking with your insurance broker first. I'll supply the receipt format and therapist registration credentials needed for claims.
